Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind the foodbank. There are over 40 volunteers helping The Wokingham Foodbank to get emergency food to people in crisis, in fact everybody involved from the Manager down is a volunteer, we have no paid staff.
We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis. All we ask is that you commit to a regular 2 hour session each week.
We need help to weigh, sort and store donated food before it’s made into parcels for clients to collect. You could help in this vital work to ensure we have the right food available at all times.
All the food parcels we give out are customised to meet the size of the family and the particular needs they have. Volunteers assemble and give out these parcels.
Eat Well -Spend Less Coordinator
We have committed to run at least two Eat Well, Spend Less courses this year. It involves six 2 hour sessions on a weekday evening where reducing the cost of food while eating tasty, nutritious food is explained, and attendees get to cook and eat a low-cost dish. We need someone who is interested in food and cooking to help on these course
We receive numerous requests from youth organisations such as schools, youth clubs and beavers, brownies, scouts and cub packs. We need someone to take responsibility for organising these visits, liaising with the organisations and coordinating the visits.
We hold regular Trustee’s meetings and need someone who will take and distribute minutes from these meetings.
