About us

We believe that no one in our community should face hunger.

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

Wokingham is one of the wealthiest towns in England - but it's also one of the most expensive places to live, and not everyone has an income that lets them manage. We don’t think anyone in Wokingham should go hungry, or have to choose between eating or heating and lighting their home.

The Wokingham Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

We are overseen by the Ministers meeting as Churches Together in Wokingham.  Our current Chair is Sam Sudlow.

We are staffed mainly by volunteers and rely on the generosity of the people of Wokingham and surrounding areas to donate sufficient food, supplies and cash to allow us to carry out this much needed service to our neighbours in need.
