First Days Childrens Charity and
Wokingham Lions Club
Roots offers low cost food, including fresh fruit and vegetables, to prevent customers from needing to access emergency food provision.

We are here to help anyone struggling to put food on the table. In 2022 we provided assistance to 6,072 people. This year we expect demand to be even higher but we are confident that we will be able to help anyone in need. If you need help please click here

We accept food donations at collection bins in most supermarkets. There a list of the items running low here. The link also shows the location of our collection bins. However, you can install an app called Bank the Food on you phone that will be automatically updated, and can give you a reminder each time you go to your supermarket.

We couldn't operate without the efforts of our great volunteers who collect donations from supermarkets, sort them, create food parcels, interact with clients and deliver to clients who lack transport. We currently have 97 volunteers. Click here if you are able to offer some time to help

Donate Food

We accept food donations at collection bins in most supermarkets. There a list of the items running low here. The link also shows the location of our collection bins. However, you can install an app called Bank the Food on you phone that will be automatically updated, and can give you a reminder each time you go to your supermarket.

We support individuals and families of all sizes so welcome packets of various sizes. However, very large packages cause us problems because we have to break them down to family-size portions.

Wokingham Borough Council and partner organisations offer help to those struggling with the cost of living. Help includes:

The Household Support Fund offers help if you’re struggling to buy food or feeding children
SHARE offers fresh produce, like bread and vegetables, for those who need it
First Days offers school uniforms and winter coats
The Cowshed offers children's and adult's clothes
